Congratulations to members of the Team who completed their Rescue 3 Swiftwater and Flood Rescue Technician Recertification course this weekend in challenging conditions on Dartmoor.
The team completed their training which focused upon capability building and operational discipline in increasingly challenging conditions. The challenges kept building as water levels increased across the course, culminating in the team using their personal skills, judgement and trust in the team capability to work effectively in a compounded grade 4 rapid on one of Dartmoor’s more challenging white water rivers– the upper Plym.
This is exactly the kind of terrain and conditions where we will be asked to deploy during a real incident, so it was essential we focused upon capability to work safely and in control next to and in these water courses in dangerous conditions.
Well done to all, a great effort.
