Saturday 22 February 2025 – Extended Search and Rescue Exercise
On Saturday, Search and Rescue Teams came together for an 8-hour training exercise based at Postbridge in central Dartmoor National Park
The exercise involved two scenarios;
1. Moorland based
2. Water based
It was an unusually good day for Dartmoor, with previous years being wet, misty and 40mph plus gusting winds. This year brought sunshine, little wind and only a few light showers.
Devon & Cornwall Police were represented by two Police Search Advisors (PoLSAs) and two Initial Missing Person Search Advisors (IMPSAs) who were embedded in the teams during both scenarios.
Thank you to Rapid Relief Team UK who provided hot drinks and food which was greatly appreciated by all those who attended.
Thank you to Chilly Pics Photography for the photos on the day.
Thank you to our sister team – Ashburton for organising another fantastic extended training exercise. Nearly 60 people were involved, making this one of the largest joint exercises in recent years.
