Incident 3
17:45 – 20:20
17 Team Members
Vehicles Deployed: Dart 51, Dart 61, Control 01
Supported by Devon & Cornwall 4×4 Response
The team were called by Devon & Cornwall Police to locate a Ten Tors training group at Lints Tor, Dartmoor. The team was deployed from Sandpits car park.
Three Hill Parties were deployed in team Land Rovers and with the support of Devon & Cornwall 4×4 Response, to reach Dinger Tor, and continue the remaining by foot to Lints Tor.
Dart 11 reached the casualty first. A team Doctor and a Remote Rescue Medical Technician assessed the individual. The casualty was feeling weak and nauseated. The casualty was treated with anti-sickness medication and encouraged to start eating and drinking while being kept warm.
Once the nausea had subsided, another assessment was conducted, and the casualty was able to stand and slowly move with the aid of team members being carefully monitored while mobile.
Team members supported the casualty and the Ten Tors group back to the awaiting vehicles at Dinger Tor, with a team remaining behind to clear the site of the tent and rucksacks.
Team Members on standby at Dinger Tor were recalled back to Control at Sandpits with everyone in convoy. The casualty was reassessed a final time in our Control vehicle and showed signs of improvement and was discharged to the care of the Ten Tors team leader. The team Doctor spoke with the casualty’s parents to update them and check they understood why and when to seek medical advice should the casualty become more poorly at home.
We wish them a speedy recovery!
