Exmouth Unexploded World War II device evacuation
This is the team’s third evacuation of an unexploded WWII device in Devon & Cornwall in five years, and we are proud to stand alongside our colleagues in support of our local communities.

Maritime and Coastguard Agency from Exmouth, Beer, Dawlish, Brixham, Kingsbridge, Area 10 Flood, Area 12 Flood, Burnham-On-Sea, Minehead, and Bideford. Area Management: AC10, S10B, AC12, S12A, S12B, and S12E, RNLI Exmouth Rapid Relief Team UK South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service Devon & Cornwall Police and East Devon District Council in supporting the evacuation of Exmouth’s 600-metre cordon over the last two days.
Mixed teams of Mountain Rescue members were deployed from Exmouth RNLI Lifeboat Station to evacuate properties in the evacuation zone, once the road blocks had been put in place. We want to thank the public for their understanding, patience and cooperation in what was a very stressful and worrying period.
A special thanks to our colleagues in RNLI Exmouth for use of their Lifeboat Station and to the wonderful Rapid Relief Team who kept the emergency service response fed over the two days
