Callout Tuesday 16 April 2025

North Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team were called by Devon & Cornwall Police just before midnight to search for a lost walker who thought they were near Yes Tor. The lost walker’s phone had run out of battery, so the team was unable to use technology to locate their position.

Team members were deployed in the two team Land Rovers from Sandpits to the Yes Tor area to search for the lost walker. Weather conditions were extremely difficult, including high winds, driving rain, hail, snow and low temperatures. The missing walker was located by a search team at 03.15, some distance from Yes Tor.

The casualty was treated by one of the team’s Remote Rescue Medical Technicians for hypothermia and was transferred to the hospital by land ambulance.

The team stood down at 05:45.
