Ongoing major incident in Plymouth involving multi-agencies from across the South West.
On Tuesday 20 February, Police were contacted regarding a recently discovered unexploded World War II device in a garden. Search and Rescue teams from across the South West were contacted to support the evacuation.
This included all four Dartmoor teams – Ashburton, Tavistock, Plymouth and ourselves. Both Cornwall SAR Teams, Devon Cave Rescue, D&C4x4, Coastguard, Fire Search and Rescue, Police and Military in a coordinated evacuation of residents within the 300m radius.
We would like to thank the public for your support during this confusing and stressful period and for the high spirits from the public throughout the day as Team Members knocked on doors and supported the evacuation.
A special thanks to the Ford Inn in Alexandra Road, who provided team members refuge from the weather during the evacuation.
