Callout – 29 July 2024
The Team was alerted by Devon & Cornwall Police at 16:04 to reports of a missing walker who had set off from Belstone across Dartmoor.
Three Hill Parties were deployed from Belstone to various points on Dartmoor to begin searching from Taw Marsh Ford up to Cut Hill with the support of Dartmoor National Park Authority Rangers, who accompanied our Team Land Rovers to deploy Hill Parties out to remote locations on Dartmoor.
As teams were approaching their search areas on foot, National Police Air Service (NPAS) located the missing walker between Hangingstone Hill and Steeperton Tor. NPAS collected the individual and returned to Belstone to meet Team Members and Police officers at our Control Vehicle.
The Team was stood down at 18:10 with the missing walker back safe and well.
Thank you to our sister team: DSRT – Ashburton and Mountain Rescue Search Dogs England who supported NDSART in the search and to DNPA Rangers in supporting the deployment of Team Members.
