North Dartmoor Search and Rescue team were called by South Western Ambulance Service Trust to support with a casualty near Sourton Tors, Dartmoor at 15:55.
The casualty had been on a long moorland run. 2 miles from the end, she slipped sustaining an ankle injury meaning she could no longer move. Hill parties were deployed from St Thomas Becket Church car park by foot, and in Dart 5.1 via Nodden Gate near the Fox and Hounds Inn. A stretcher party was then formed and met with hill parties at the casualties location.
Where a team doctor and remote rescue medical technicians assessed the casualty, administered pain relief and splinted the lower leg injury. The casualty was then evacuated to the awaiting landrover (Dart 5.1), which met a land ambulance at the Fox and Hounds Inn car park once off Dartmoor.
The team was stood down at 18:40. We wish the casualty a speedy recovery.
